Disney World: Be Our Guest

This weekend I was lucky enough to snag a reservation to the Be Our Guest restaurant. The lunch menu has now become much like their previous dinner menu of a prix fixe 3 course meal. This was an unexpected and great surprise as I was informed of it while checking in at the main gate by a very courteous cast member. (Kudos as always for for staying in character in the French theme.)

As with almost everywhere else there are some changes to the line queue and waiting room area due to covid19 social distancing guidelines and precautions. (Which I am both glad and thankful for as this made
for a very safe feeling environment.)
However, I must say that having the cast member “hostess” call for your party is easy to miss due to the sound and volume of the music. I know this is also related to mask usage
but perhaps lowering the ambient music and voice-overs in the room with the armor suits would help alleviate this.

We were seated in the rose room which at first gave off a bit of “T-Rex” vibe with the rolling thunder and storms to set the mood but it quickly blended into the background. Being in the darker environment made the experience more intimate and overall better. The lack of light coming in from the front doors, or the constant hustle and bustle of people going around to the bathroom, or outside truly made it feel a bit more of a high class restaurant.

The food was great as you can see by the pictures, the soup was on point and the salad was to put mildly, simply astounding. The dressing was refreshing without being overpowering and the presentation was very tasteful. The waiter explained the chicken was “bone in” for taste which only led me to believe people complained about this fact but it seemed delicious if a bit dry looking (not sure on taste as I did not eat it.)

The roasted corn and spinach tortellini were great with the peppadew relish but the true breakouts were the desserts. Only 1 option was available at this time. “The Trio” which included a chocolate truffle, a lemon jam macaroon and the renowned “grey stuff” (It’s delicious) were all to die for. I had previously tried the grey stuff but now its being served in a white chocolate edible chipped cup which enhanced the taste
and made it truly special.

Overall, the experience is phenomenal, if a bit pricey but not outlandish by Disney standards at all. I’d recommend it for sure and my only gripe (as well as a few other patrons) was that it was a bit hard to hear the waiter and staff. I can’t wait to go back for a proper dinner when the weather cools off a bit, and who knows, maybe by then the beast is allowed to take pictures again.
